CCA provides supplemental education for students in kindergarten, primary, middle school and high school (grades K4 through 12). It has been established as a school that promotes cooperative teaching between classroom and parent co-teachers. CCA allows home-school students exposure to group educational environments and peer-group interaction. CCA is designed for families that want the benefits of home schooling, while drawing from the educational resources of an established school. All families that enroll in CCA are home schooling.
As a homeschool cooperative, not only do both the parent and classroom teachers provide instruction for the students enrolled, the parents actively participate on campus. Parents and teachers work together in the evaluation of student progress, professional development, and the overall direction of the school. These co-teachers provide an excellent, well-rounded Christian education for the student involved.
CCA takes a refreshingly unique approach to education, yet one that is well supported through research. Our school stresses the partnership between the parent and the classroom teacher. The U.S. Department of Education declared in its publication: What Works: Research about Teaching and Learning (1986) that “Parents are their children’s first and most influential teachers.” In recognition of this truth, CCA seeks to provide a structured program of lesson plans and learning activities that will enrich what the parent is striving to accomplish in the home. The classroom teacher provides academic and educational knowledge and a zest for learning and growing in Christ, and the parent provides loving insights and intuitiveness about his or her own child. It is truly the best of both worlds.
CCA is a member of the TANAS, Tennessee Association of Non-Public Academic Schools. Because of this membership, we are allowed to register and test home school students. CCA is classified as a Home School Satellite System program.
CCA interviews each family coming into the school. This interview involves explaining the purposes and policies of the school, as well as talking with the family about their needs and goals. Records from previous schools are obtained and evaluated. CCA reserves the right to deny or decline a student.
